Northern Samar peasant group Alyansa san mga Parag-uma Kontra-kagutom san Las Navasnon (APKLAS), along with human rights group Katungod – Northern Samar, confronted the 20th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army to leave their village last November 6, Monday. APKLAS Chairman Bennie Alegria stressed that military elements have been camping in San Miguel in the town of Las Navas and in other villages and towns of Northern Samar, therefore violating the International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

Attended by Staff Sgt. Sevillano, progressive group leaders, residents of the village themselves and  other human rights advocates, the farmers’ alliance lambasted the armed officials for being the top perpetrators and violators of human rights.
